SecondLife Vintage

Clothes with a past and a future.

Vintage Dior on top, Vintage Tahari on bottom.

Could I possibly be any happier?! I hit the motherload this weekend with a few designer finds! Let’s take votes on whether or not I put them up on Etsy! :)

New blouse!

Fun new find! I picture this blouse on a date night with a pencil skirt and heels! The woman who owned this took it from the office to happy hour drinks with red lips! Meow!

Denver Help! Prom Dress Donations!

Hey, friends! Prom is right around the corner and coming from somebody that can relate, there are a lot of girls out there that just can’t afford the dress, the shoes, the jewelry, the flowers… especially in this economy. In Denver, there is an amazing event called Dressed to the Nines where prom dresses are collected and then offered to girls for only $15. That event is this Saturday and not only am I going to drop off a few of my dresses, but I would love to drop off some of your dresses!

They need them ASAP so that they can be cleaned before the event, so if you have any that you would like to donate, please let me know and I will drive to your house to pick them up! This is very dear to my heart and I would love your help in taking the worry out of this fun night for girls. Imagine not being able to go to your prom because your family can’t afford it. Heartbreaking!

I’m going to try to drop off dresses by Thursday. I know that it is short notice, but like I said… I will drive to your house if that’s what it takes! I know we’ve all got tons of dresses sitting in our closets that we’ve worn once… and, really… are you actually going to wear them again?

Thanks for your support with this!

Weekend Find: Velvet & Satin!

I know I say this all of the time, but how could somebody give this dress up?! It has so much character!

This was definitely owned by a teacher. A very strict teacher who purchased this dress for chaperoning a school dance. If only someone who could truly appreciate it, owned it! :) You? Check it out here!

Etsy Store is up and running!

More items and pictures to add yet, but check it out! Let me know what you think!

Denver, watch for details on a pop-up trunk show!

Etsy Store Update

I am going to devote this weekend to setting up my “glamour shots by Deb” studio to get some good photos! Hoping that things will be up and running early next week! Just don’t buy all of my inventory until I’ve had my showcase! :)

A Classic Kylee Look

A vintage t-shirt plus a vintage skirt… If my vintage t-shirt collection were as large as it should be, this is what I would likely wear on a daily basis! It’s a fun and easy way to incorporate vintage into your wardrobe! Jazz it up with some pears or a scarf… make it casual with a fedora. L.O.V.E.

Stuff White People Like: Vintage!

Hello Gorgeous!

Again… Why would anybody give up this dress? It’s absolutely gorgeous! The deep red color and the applique on the waist… it’s beautiful!

I believe that this dress was bought for a fancy holiday party. The woman’s husband was likely a partner in a law firm and she wanted to make a good impression with his colleagues.

She held onto it because she, too, thought it was beautiful, but finally decided that she would likely never wear it again. Her loss is our gain!

A Potential Breakthrough?

If anybody noticed my tweet today, I proclaimed that sometimes a vintage dress is reason enough (and maybe sometimes the only reason) to get out of bed in the morning. I collect and write to share my love of clothes and their history with you, but also to show you that vintage doesn’t mean old and unwearable. You CAN incorporate vintage pieces into your modern wardrobe.

So, in my quest to share, I’m considering doing a showcase of my collection. Yes, I have 80′s power dresses and yes, I have pleated skirts that look like they came from my grandma’s closet, but you can wear them today! They add a uniqueness to your look. I’ve been having small conversations about the showcase to invite people to check out my collection and see how they can be styled to update your wardrobe. Stay tuned for details!

Also, it’s probably time that I got the Etsy store up and running. Once I get photos taken, I will get it launched and let you know!

Thanks for reading! :)
